A Few Words To This Page

Sir Laws Manowar Collection ©2009

Everything began back in 1982 . I lived back then in the former GDR as I heard of  MANOWAR the first time . In a small youth club a song named  “Metal Daze”  blasted  out of the speakers and caused me immediately to jump head banging onto the dancefloor . By the way : I was nineteen years old and a die hard KISS fan, but a song like “Metal Daze” was so completely different than the “I was made for loving you” mentality from KISS and was way better to express how I felt . Exactly  THAT was my music !

From that day on I soaked up everything with eager that was anywhere related to MANOWAR . Unfortunately  this was not very easy in the former GDR , since especially bands from the western part were treated as cultural litter by our governance and were  unwillingly seen in our “clean society”. As a metal  fan from hour one on nobody , not even our “People’s Police” or any  other  state  clowns  was able to keep me from obtaining the records that I loved . I would like to mention that a record was between 150 and 200 Marks in the former GDR . With a monthly income of 425 Marks this cost a pretty penny .

Anyway… When MANOWAR released their Album “Into Glory Ride” in 1983 this musical concoction overwhelmed me completely . To this very day this masterpiece belongs to the Top three Albums of all times in my opinion . Due  to  their crushing compositions I still label “Into Glory Ride” an elephant record .

Up until 1989 I archived all albums of the band very painstakingly to my tapes . The elephant record was the only original one shelved . When the Iron Curtain fell one thing was for sure … All  the  money  I  owned  had  to  be  sacrificed to buy the remaining Albums and to get the first bootlegs of the band . And due to the technical advancements and the introduction of CD’s I had to get those as well .

That’s how the passion for MANOWAR went on and on . If the guys are on tour in Germany I will be definitely there. If they release a new album I will be there to buy it .You can view the outcome on my pages, maybe even by shaking your head in disbelief. But I stand by that . No  other  band  was  able  to  convince me more musical wise up to this day. Of course we can debate over one or the other album , but a singer like Eric Adams is unique !

And maybe there are some more fanatics out there like me. If you are looking for some more rarities , want to exchange them or simply want to give them away you should sign up on the “Collectors Community”. Over the years I got  some  duplicates  and maybe we can exchange items ?!

Short Info’s About This Collection

Meanwhile  my  collection  consists  of  more than 500 items of all kinds . For now CD’s rank first in terms of quantity, followed by Shirts and Vinyl. It is impossible to estimate the value of my collection, since I never captured any purchase price . To  put  it  simple the material value is unsignificant to me and the non-material value is beyond price . Every collector will agree to that .

The  collection  was  carried  together  in  a  period of  21 years . In  that  regard I am tightly moving towards to a quarter-century and still having the same fun as on day one.

The  items  were  carried  together  from all around the world . The collections consists of items from countries like Malaysia , Israel , Japan , Indonesia , Russia , Thailand , Hong Kong , Liechtenstein or Brazil to name just a few exotic ones .

The rarest items are found quickly . Especially the test pressings , due to their very limited edition are very difficult to be found and require an enormous amount of time and also large financial investments sometimes . If one gets hold of such a rare item the joy is twice as big though .

As  proud  as  I  am with this collection there’s nothing like a personal meeting with your idols . It’s a strange , unreal  feeling especially if one is doing this with that much passion . Personally I am looking forward to the next encounter . In this sense : ALL HAIL MANOWAR !
